***Update:*** Since the original review I was contacted by the owner. It appears they missed shutting off online ordering when they closed early on a slow night. They quickly refunded our payment and graciously made up for the inconvenience. I have finally had the time to return and try the BBQ. Wes helped me and was ... very courteous and friendly. I went with a "one of everything approach" for the family to get a little taste of the whole menu (standard practice when trying a new BBQ joint). It did not disappoint! Everything was tasty but we particularly loved the brisket, ribs, pulled pork, coleslaw, mac and cheese, beans, and hot mop sauce. I had mentioned to a friend I was heading down to get food and he said "get anything, you can't go wrong"...and he was right. Great businesses know how to turn a bad customer experience into a good customer experience. Looking forward to our next visit. They are certainly open and certainly delicious. ***Previous Review:*** Just placed an order online on a Friday night at 7pm...arrived to pickup our food and the location was closed. I recently ordered the pre-packaged brisket to feed 60 people at our Cambria American Legion. Reheating was a breeze, and the meat tender and smokey. We received applause and thumbs up for the dinner and the guests asked for an encore in the future! I also bought the pulled pork for make-your-own sliders for a ... birthday lunch this week. We recently had Gold Land BBQ for the first time when they catered a friends engagement party. The food was great and their staff handled about 80 of us with ease. I sampled a few things but the brisket stood out. I definitely recommend for a party.

Gold Land BBQ is an absolute gem! I regularly order their tri-tip's, brisket, and whole smoked chickens through Harvestly for easy weeknight family meals, and they never disappoint... I had the chance to visit their location in person recently, and it was phenomenal. Everything they make (or should I say smoke) is ... ridiculously good. Ribs? Check. Brisket? Check. Tri-tip? Check. Smoked chicken? OMG, absolutely check. The quality and flavor of their barbecue are unmatched. This place has officially become my go-to for family meals. Glad this exists in SLO because there’s just something special about low and slow BBQ. Gold Land BBQ seems inspired by a lot of techniques and flavors from the south but blends in “California” very nicely. All the ingredients tasted fresh and with great quality. The meats and sides all seemed meticulously thought out. ... There was something different with each bite that didn’t seem “traditional” but the flavors all balanced well together making you want to eat more to figure out what. The dealer’s choice was a great way to try and sample nearly everything. Feeds 3-4 adults well or maybe up to 5-6 if there’s kids or folks less hungry. Give this place a try, go to it often.
